                       Judge Brenda K. Sanders

Judge Brenda K. Sanders is a native Detroiter. In 1980, she graduated from the University of Michigan where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. She earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Detroit Mercy Law School in 1983.

 

Judge Sanders practiced law in the Detroit Metropolitan area for 24 years.  She practiced in the areas of Criminal Law, Family Law, General Civil Litigation and also Church Law.  She also worked as House Counsel for the 36th District Court for 20 years before her election as a judge.

In 2006, she earned a Doctorate of Divinity degree from Destiny Christian University.  Judge Sanders is an Ordained Minister and is a Professor at an accredited bible college.  She is also a harpist.  In 1977, Judge Sanders began attending the Center for Creative Studies at Wayne State University where she studied harp music and continues to play the harp today.  She is the founder of Harpbeats Music Ministries, which is a non-profit entity, the umbrella under which she ministers music throughout the city of Detroit and other surrounding areas. 

Judge Sanders is a member of the Women’s Society of the Montford Point Marine Corp., the Detroit Metropolitan Council of Clergywomen, Alpha Kappa Sorority, the Detroit Federation of Musicians (Local 5) and the EACM Ministerial Association.
