                       Judge C. Lorene Royster
Judge C. Lorene Royster was appointed to the position of Judge of 36th District Court in 1990, after serving as a Magistrate for 5 years.  She was first elected in 1994.  Prior to her service as a Magistrate, she practiced both Civil and Criminal law.

 

 

Judge Royster graduated from Oakwood College Academy and attended Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama.  She earned her B.S. Degree in Sociology and M.S.L.S. in Library Science from Wayne State University.  Her Law Degree was conferred by Wayne State University Law School.

A native of Mississippi, Judge Royster has been a Detroit resident for nearly 40 years.  She is divorced and the mother of four adult children.

She is affiliated with and an active member in numerous civic, community and professional organizations including: The Association of Black Judges of Michigan, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, The Michigan District Judges' Association, State Bar of Michigan,  the NAACP and the Oakwood College Academy Alumni Association.
