                       Chief Magistrate Millicent D. Sherman

 

Chief Magistrate Millicent Sherman was elected by her colleagues to serve as Chief Magistrate in November 2010.

Chief Judge Marylin E. Atkins appointed her Magistrate in April 2006.  Prior to her appointment, she was a sole practitioner attorney practicing in the Metropolitan Detroit area.

 

Chief Magistrate Sherman graduated in 1986 from Lutheran High School West and in 1990 from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor where she studied Political Science, Women's Studies and African American Studies.  She graduated in 1995 from the University of Detroit-Mercy Law School.

Chief Magistrate Sherman worked at Wayne County Corporation Counsel under then Head Counsel Jennifer M. Granholm and at Kitch, Drutchas, Wagner and Kenney before starting her own practice.

She lives in Detroit where she belongs to several community-based organizations including the University of Detroit-Mercy Law School Alumni Association, the University of Michigan Alumni Association and is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
