Magistrate Robert K. Costello, married with two children, has
served as a Magistrate of the 36th District Court since February,
1989. Like the other Magistrates of this court, he has heard
about 8000 cases per year in traffic, small claims, and felony
and misdemeanor arraignments.
Prior to 1989, Magistrate Costello was a trial
attorney in private practice from 1977 to 1989 and did extensive
litigation in Circuit, Recorders, Probate and District Courts
of Wayne and Macomb counties. He also served as an employment
counselor with the State of Michigan from 1974 to 1976, and
as a school teacher from 1971 to 1974.

Magistrate Costello is a graduate of the University of Detroit
and is an ardent supporter of the basketball team. He also has
a Masters Degree in Education from Wayne State University, and
a Law Degree from Detroit College of Law. He has served as president
of the Italian American Bar Association of Michigan, as Dean
(president) of Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, and as a Board
Member of the Catholic Lawyers Society, the Titan Club (UDM),
Adoption Option, and SoundAid. Also he is very active with the
Detroit Goodfellows and is a Life Member of the NAACP. |
