| Judge
Giles attended Cass Technical High School. He entered in the
U.S. Army and served his country honorably as a Medical Corpsman
and a Neuropsychiatry Specialist overseas until he finished his
tour of duty. Upon returning home, Judge Giles attended Wayne
State University where he received his Bachelor of Science in
Criminal Justice, followed by a Master of Arts in Guidance and
Counseling. He then entered Wayne State Law School where he
received his Juris Doctorate.
While attending Wayne State University, Judge
Giles earned a basketball scholarship and worked various jobs to
get through college. Since graduating from college, Judge Giles
has worked in various therapeutic and social work positions. He
concentrated on youth and their families until graduating from
law school, immediately passing the Bar and started practicing
as an attorney.
As an attorney, Judge Giles practiced for 22
years and worked as general counsel for a community mental
health organization, a hearing referee for the Michigan
Department of Civil Rights and maintained a general law practice
with a concentration in Juvenile law, Criminal law, Family law,
Immigration and Civil Rights.
Judge Giles has been a member of New Prospect
Missionary Baptist Church for over 25 years. He resides in
Detroit with his wife of 23 years, Joyce V. Hayes-Giles and
their daughters. |
