Your Role As a Juror

Your Role As a Juror

   To be fair to all sides, there are certain rules that a juror should follow throughout the trial;

Inspecting the Scene
It is improper for any juror to make an inspection of the scene unless ordered by the court. Conditions may have changed. An unauthorized inspection might force a retrial of the case.

Discussing the Case
During the trial, you should not talk about the case with other jurors, or with other persons. If anyone should try talking about the case to you, tell them that you are on the jury. If they insist, then report the matter to the judge.

Talking with Parties or Attorneys
During the trial, do not talk with parties, witnesses, or attorneys.

Promptness
It is important that jurors not be late in reporting for jury duty. A juror who is late wastes the time of other jurors, the judge, the attorneys, the witnesses, the parties, and other court employees.
