Work Program

The 36th District Court Work Program is an initiative designed to provide a means by which those in violation of court-orders are held accountable for their behavior through monitored community work projects.  Defendants may be referred specifically to perform work in lieu of fines, costs and fees when a Judge has deemed him/her to be indigent or as a sentence. Defendants are held to standards and expectations which will promote an improved personal work ethic.

The Work Program seeks to provide services in and around governmental buildings, businesses, community based agencies and various neighborhoods within the city of Detroit.  The Judges refer defendants to the Work Program and the Probation Department provides oversight and supervision.  The benefits of cost savings and the beautification of the community will increase, thereby resulting in a cleaner and more vibrant Detroit.
